Troy Jackson for U.S. Senate in Maine
WHY TROY

Why should I vote for Troy Jackson?

What he got done in Augusta, and who stands with him in 2026.

The case for Troy

Troy Jackson is a fifth-generation logger from Allagash, a longtime union member and the former Senate President of the Maine State Legislature. He helped make school meals free for every Maine public school student and sponsored laws to bring down prescription drug prices. His supporters argue that Susan Collins has been in office for decades, voted for the war in Iran, and is bought out by special interests.

It started at the border in 1998

In 1998, large landowners replaced Maine loggers with cheaper labor. Troy helped lead a border blockade.

"Susan Collins was my Senator back then," he wrote on July 28, 2026. "She sided with the big landowners over us."

Troy decided working people needed one of their own at the table, so he ran for the Maine Legislature. Looking back on October 19, 2026, he put it this way: "Working people shouldn’t have to block a border to get their government to listen. But I learned that day that if we wanted anything to change, we had to stand up and fight for it."

What he got done in Augusta

He helped make school breakfast and lunch free for all Maine public school students (LD 1679). He sponsored the laws that created Maine’s Prescription Drug Affordability Board (LD 1499) and a pathway to import lower-cost prescription drugs (LD 1272).

As Senate President, he passed LD 1459, which gave Maine's loggers and haulers the right to bargain together.

In 2023 he helped pass Maine’s paid family and medical leave program. That same year he passed a bill to secure emergency heating funds for working families and seniors.

Who has endorsed him

As of October 2026, more than 100 organizations, elected officials and community leaders throughout Maine have endorsed Troy, among them the AFL-CIO, President Barack Obama and Hannah Pingree, the Democratic nominee for governor. That same month, Bernie Sanders came to Maine to rally with him.

He won a district Trump carried

In 2008, Troy flipped Senate District 35, beating a Republican 62% to 37%. He held the seat in 2010, the year Republicans took full control of Maine state government for the first time since 1963.

He won three times in a row in a district that both Donald Trump and Susan Collins carried. At a rally with Sanders in October 2026, he said: "I've had the honor of having some power for 20 years, and I've tried to remember one thing: It was never mine. You gave it to me."
