Does Troy Jackson want Medicare for All?
Yes. He has said he would put his name on the bill.
Yes. Troy Jackson supports Medicare for All. At the first debate, on October 6, 2026, he said: "I support Medicare for All, so that people that I know across the state have health care." In a video posted September 29, 2026, he called it "my top priority."
From a vote to a cosponsor
On July 9, 2026, he wrote: "I’ll be a vote for Medicare For All in the U.S. Senate."
On August 29 he went a step further: "And when I get there, I’ll cosponsor Medicare for All. No one in this country should go broke just because they get sick."
Why he is taking it to Washington
In the Maine Legislature, people told him that the issues he was fighting for were "a federal thing." In an August 2026 interview on SiriusXM Progress, he said: "Well, all right, then I’m going to go to the U.S. Senate and fight for things that everyday people need in Maine." Troy has also pointed to the healthcare crisis in Maine – fueled by cuts to healthcare that Susan Collins voted to advance.
He says the money is there
In Waldo County in August 2026, he put it like this: "There’s always money for bombs. There’s always money for tax cuts for Elon Musk. There’s money everywhere, but when you actually start talking about healthcare for the actual taxpayers, the actual people in this country, they start acting like you have three horns on your head."
On paying for his priorities: "I think you pay for it by where we put our money. Repeal the Big Beautiful Bill, take back those tax cuts for the wealthy," he told WMTW in September 2026.
Everybody is worthy
On October 15, 2026, the first day of Medicare open enrollment, he said: "Health care is a human right."
In August 2026, on Mike Nellis's Endless Urgency, he talked about who gets to decide: "All these people that are elected are making decisions about other people's healthcare while they're on government-sponsored healthcare, deciding who else is worthy. Well, I think everybody's worthy."
Health care is one part of what he is running on.
