Troy Jackson has a record of cutting taxes for working people. "As Senate President, I passed tax cuts for our veterans and our seniors," Troy Jackson says of his record in Augusta, in an ad released October 13, 2026; for the U.S. Senate, his campaign says he will fight to cut working families' taxes, tax billionaires and make large corporations pay their fair share. For families, the plan means a larger Child Tax Credit and Earned Income Tax Credit. For the wealthiest, it includes lifting the Social Security payroll cap.
What he did in Augusta
In a Bangor Daily News op-ed reprinted September 12, 2026, he wrote: "I voted to increase the income tax pension deduction for retirees."
On Maine Calling on October 1, 2026, he said he has "fought to cut taxes and lower costs for Maine families," and added: "I've always fought for property tax cuts."
In "80 Hours," an ad released August 26, 2026, he says he has been fighting "to cut taxes for working people, because you should keep more of what you earn."
Higher at the top, through Social Security
On the same broadcast, he laid out the payroll cap: "we need to remove the cap so that wealthy people pay in at the same rate that working class people do. Not only is that going to make the Social Security fund solvent, but it would mean that we'd actually have more money to actually increase the benefits for people that have worked hard their entire life."
On September 12, 2026, he wrote: "Billionaires shouldn't be paying less in taxes than a teacher or a logger."
