Does Bernie Sanders support Troy Jackson?
From the governor’s race to the Senate race, and back to 2016.
Yes. Bernie Sanders endorsed Troy Jackson in the 2026 primary for governor, and in October 2026 he came to Maine to campaign with him for the U.S. Senate.
Sanders backed him for governor first
In a TV ad Troy shared on May 8, 2026, he said: "My name is Troy Jackson. I'm a logger from Allagash, and I'm the only candidate endorsed by Bernie Sanders."
In October 2026 he came to Maine for the Senate race
On October 2, 2026, Troy announced that Sanders would join him in Bangor, Lewiston and Biddeford on the Solidarity Forever Tour. More than 600 people came out for the Bangor rally.
Sanders told the crowd: "He's going to be a great member of the United States Senate." He also asked them for help: "I hope that in the next three weeks you guys will do everything you can to see that Troy gets elected."
Troy stands up to power and influence
Thanking Sanders for his endorsement on May 27, 2026, Troy wrote: "I used to think a fifth-generation logger from Allagash had no place in our political system. Bernie Sanders helped me see otherwise. He showed it was possible to stand up to power and influence, fight like hell for everyday people, and win."
