BANGOR, ME — Fifth-generation logger, former Maine Senate President, and Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate Troy Jackson spent his Saturday connecting with Mainers across the state at a canvass launch in Lewiston, a statewide virtual town hall, and ending at a rally in Bangor with Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders.
Troy rallied with Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders in Bangor Saturday evening to close out the day. The two leaders shared their plans to work together to pass Medicare for All, put a check on Trump’s dangerous and illegal policies, and put working people first.
With over 600 Mainers in attendance, the crowd was fired up and ready to retire Susan Collins, who has failed working-class families for 30 years, raising costs, cutting Medicaid, and endangering reproductive rights.
Well, I've had the honor of having some power in Maine, and for 20 years I tried to remember one thing: it was never mine. You gave it to me. My job was to use it for you,” said Jackson at the Bangor rally Saturday evening. “And if you send me to the United States Senate, that's exactly what I'm going to do. I don’t owe Trump nothing. I owe the billionaires nothing. I owe the people of Maine everything.”
“I hope that in the next three weeks you guys will do everything you can to see that Troy gets elected. He's going to be a great member of the United States Senate,” said Sanders at the Bangor rally Saturday evening. “ Let us make sure that we create the kind of government and economy that we need, we want, and we deserve.”

Earlier in the day, Troy kicked off the day at a canvass launch in Lewiston with Democratic nominee for Governor Hannah Pingree and Democratic nominee for Maine’s second congressional district Matt Dunlap to celebrate the hard work of the canvassers and volunteers.

In the afternoon, Troy joined a virtual town hall with Mainers from across the state to hear about the most pressing issues facing working people, like the rising costs and stagnant wages that have plagued our economy under Susan Collins’ and Trump’s leadership.
