PRESS RELEASE
ON ANNIVERSARY OF ICE SHOOTING, JACKSON WILL HOLD COLLINS ACCOUNTABLE FOR SENDING ICE BILLIONS
Three months after the murder of Johan Sebastián Guerrero, Troy will face Susan Collins on the debate stage for a third time
BANGOR, ME — On the three month anniversary of the murder of Johan Sebastián Guerrero by ICE agents in Biddeford, Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate Troy Jackson will face Susan Collins in their third debate tonight, pressing her on the $70 billion she handed to ICE with no guardrails or oversight.

Troy Jackson at Rally in Biddeford calls to Abolish ICE
Even after the fatal ICE shooting in Biddeford, Susan Collins continued defending her vote to give the agency billions more and maintained her support for the rogue agency and its leadership, raising the question of how Mainers can trust her to protect their rights and freedoms.
In contrast, Jackson has been clear: ICE must be abolished. He supports comprehensive immigration reform and replacing the agency with accountable immigration enforcement that respects due process, protects public safety, and treats people humanely. Troy believes Mainers deserve accountability — and an immigration system they can trust, not masked raids and fear.
“On July 13, tragedy struck Maine when rogue ICE agents shot and killed Johan Sebastián Durán Guerrero – a 25 year old man who got up that day to go to work to provide for his family and his little girl,” said Jackson. “Three months later, Susan Collins is still making excuses. But the truth is she has voted to give ICE tens of billions of dollars. And after what happened in Biddeford, she still says ICE shouldn't be abolished. Tonight, she must answer for that.”
Tonight’s debate airs on WABI and WAGM at 7:00 p.m. ET.
WHAT COLLINS MUST ANSWER FOR TONIGHT
Defending ICE funding after a Mainer’s death. Collins defended her vote for the additional ICE funding even after the fatal shooting.
Billions more without meaningful accountability. Collins, the Chair of Appropriations, voted to give ICE another $70 billion in additional funding just one month before the fatal shooting in Biddeford.
Opposing funding for body cameras. In June, Collins voted against an amendment to provide $300 million for ICE body cameras.
Standing by ICE’s Leaders. Collins voted to confirm Department of Homeland Security Secretaries Kristi Noem and Markwayne Mullin and she continued to support ICE’s leadership even after the agency terrorized Mainers.
Voting with Trump 96% of the time even when it hurts Mainers. Collins voted to advance Trump’s “Big Beautiful Bill” that gutted Mainers’ health care to deliver tax cuts for billionaires. Susan Collins has backed Trump’s war in Iran that has increased the cost of gas and energy. Collins confirmed Brett Kavanaugh despite pleas and warnings from Mainers and said repeatedly that she does not regret that vote.
WHAT JACKSON WILL FIGHT FOR
Jackson believes we need comprehensive immigration reform and federal law enforcement and immigration services that can be trusted – not masked raids and fear.
It’s why Troy will fight to abolish ICE.
In the U.S. Senate, he will:
Protect Mainers’ rights and freedoms: Dismantle and abolish ICE, stop sending U.S. tax dollars to fund foreign wars, pass a federal right to abortion, enact comprehensive civil rights protections for LGBTQ+ Americans, and strengthen unions and workers’ rights to organize.
Lower families’ costs: Pass Medicare for All, cut prescription drug prices, lower electricity bills, expand housing, and make child care more affordable.
Clean up Washington: Ban congressional stock trading, overturn Citizens United, and get big money out of politics.
Put working people first: Cut taxes for working people, make corporations and the wealthy pay their fair share, and strengthen the right to organize.
