Jackson Takes Questions Directly From Mainers At Belfast Community Conversation With Matt Dunlap

Jackson and Dunlap fielded questions from the crowd on issues facing Maine and how they would work together in Washington

BELFAST, ME —  Fifth-generation logger, former Maine Senate President, and Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate Troy Jackson spent Saturday in Belfast for a Community Conversation with his friend and candidate for Maine’s second congressional district Matt Dunlap — spending much of the event taking questions directly from Mainers in the room.

Jackson and Dunlap discussed their priorities for Maine and how they would work together in Congress before opening the conversation to the audience and fielding question after question from attendees on the issues they care about most. Jackson answered Mainers directly about the challenges facing working families and what he would do in the U.S. Senate.

“Mainers deserve elected officials who show up, listen to them, and answer their questions directly,” said Jackson. “That’s what I’ve always done, and that’s what I’m going to keep doing all across this state. People are worried about rising costs and whether Washington is actually working for them, and I want to hear directly from them about what they’re dealing with.”

When asked about making things happen in Congress, Matt Dunlap reflected: “It sometimes was just being persistent in not giving up on an idea, and Troy and I both have a record of doing that, and that's how we're going to get it done.”
