Maine Coordinated Campaign Hits 1 Million Attempted Voter Contacts Ahead Of Election Day

With two weeks still to go, Maine Democrats have already made more than four times as many calls as at this point in either of the last two midterm cycles and nearly twice as many door attempts as at this point in 2018.

PORTLAND, ME — With just two weeks until Election Day, the Maine Democratic Party's coordinated campaign has surpassed 1 million voter contact attempts, marking a major milestone for the largest coordinated campaign in Maine history.

In just 11 weeks, MDP has built a statewide organizing operation spanning all 16 counties, reaching voters through door-to-door canvassing, phone banking, and community organizing.

“The energy and momentum we are seeing in Maine is nothing like I’ve ever seen before. I’ve been waiting my whole life for everyday Mainers to stand together and demand a government that works for working people,” said Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate Troy Jackson. “I’m damn proud to be a part of this ticket and working alongside hundreds of volunteers and organizers to reach every Mainer and elect leaders that fight for Mainers.”

“Surpassing one million voter contact attempts is a testament to the energy and enthusiasm we're seeing from Mainers across the state,” said Maine Democratic Party Coordinated Campaign Director Kayla vanWieringen. “We're training hundreds of volunteer leaders who are stepping up to lead organizing efforts in their own communities. These leaders aren't just helping us elect Democrats up and down the ballot this year — they're building the foundation for Democratic victories in Maine for years to come. Together, we've built the robust, multifaceted organizing operation it will take to finally defeat Susan Collins, and we're ready to win on Election Day.”

Since launching, the coordinated campaign has reached the following milestones:

  • Made more than one million total voter contact attempts

  • Made more than 230,000 door attempts

  • Made more than 790,000 direct calls to voters

  • Surpassed more than 18,000 volunteer shift signups

  • Trained 290+ volunteer leaders

  • Knocked doors in 243 towns across Maine

  • Opened 25 field offices across all 16 counties
