Troy Jackson Shares Vision For Maine With York County Voters, Stands With Railworkers In Portland

PORTLAND, ME — Fifth-generation logger, former Maine Senate President, and Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate Troy Jackson stood with union rail workers as they called for increased safety measures at Rigby Yard in South Portland and rallied volunteers with the Seacoast Democratic party in York.

Jackson stood with union workers at a Sheet Metal, Air, Rail and Transportation International Association, Transportation Division (SMART) press conference to advocate for rail safety, following two CSX train derailments over the last month in New England.

“Bringing back yardmasters at Rigby to coordinate safe train movements and emergency response is one of the many steps CSX could take to prevent the next derailment from being a toxic one,” said Jackson. “I’m proud to stand with SMART and union workers today and everyday because Mainers deserve a U.S. Senator who fights  for them – not the corporations that are squeezing working people in the first place.”

At an office opening for the Seacoast Democratic party Thursday night, Jackson met with volunteers and voters, highlighting the momentum behind his campaign and the importance of  every Mainer who is helping him beat Susan Collins.

“I’ve never seen energy or momentum like this before – it’s about all of us together and what we can do when we have a government that actually works for working people – not billionaires,” explained Jackson. "This is about how we retire Susan Collins, and build a better future for Maine.”
