WESTBROOK, ME —  Fifth-generation logger, former President of the Maine Senate, and Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate Troy Jackson met with union workers and toured the American Roots manufacturing facility in Westbrook on Friday morning. While Susan Collins puts billionaires and corporate interests first, Troy is focused on building an economy that works for all Mainers.

“American Roots is a great example of what Maine can do when we invest in our communities and create opportunity right here at home,” said Jackson. “The workers here – and workers across Maine – deserve a senator fighting for them ensuring their hard work pays off. While Susan Collins is helping billionaires and special interests get richer, I’m fighting for Maine.”

“As a small business owner, I know firsthand that we need a leader in Washington who isn’t afraid to stand up for Mainers when it matters the most. Susan Collins has shown us time and again she’s not that leader,” said American Roots President and COO Whitney Waxman. “While she’s sold out Mainers again and again and put corporations and billionaires first, Troy has been working for us here in Maine to lower costs, protect our jobs, and strengthen our unions. I’ve known Troy Jackson for many years, and I know we can trust him to fight for us.”

The American Roots workforce is made up of skilled garment workers and proud members of United Steelworkers (USW) Local 366. Jackson has consistently advocated for workers and unions during his time in the Maine Legislature. Lowering costs, protecting good paying jobs, and ensuring hard work pays off for all Mainers are central themes of his campaign for U.S. Senate.
