In Jam-Packed Labor Day Weekend Across The State, Jackson Meets Mainers & Celebrates Solidarity

MAINE — Fifth-generation logger, former Maine Senate President, and Democratic Nominee for U.S. Senate Troy Jackson spent the second day of his jam-packed labor day weekend celebrating the workers and organizers who fight for fair pay, good benefits, and safe conditions for working people across Maine. From breakfasts and meet and greets to canvass launches and contra dances, Troy spent Sunday spreading his vision for working class Mainers as someone who understands solidarity not just as a word, but as a way of life.

Troy was joined by nurses at the end of their night shift for an Off the Clock Breakfast in South Portland where they discussed the policy priorities of the Maine Nurses Association.

In the afternoon, Troy chatted with working Mainers about the struggles they are facing in Trump and Collins’ economy during the Central Maine Labor Council’s Labor Day Picnic in Skowhegan.

Continuing in Skowhegan, Troy joined the Somerset County Democrats for their midterms canvass launch and the opening of the newest Maine Democratic Party office, highlighting the volunteers and canvassers dedicated to electing leaders like Troy who fight for working people. 

Next, Troy stopped in Orono to meet with students, teachers, and community members for a meet and greet hosted by the Maine Education Association where they talked about his vision for strengthening public education and fighting for teachers’ in the U.S. Senate.

To close out the day, Troy joined members of the University of Maine Graduate Workers Union at a contra dance in Orono, celebrating the hardworking students and the power of organizing.
