Sen. Warren Joins Troy Jackson For His 13th Town Hall While Collins Refuses to Show Up for Mainers
WATERVILLE, ME — Fifth-generation logger, former Maine Senate President, and Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate Troy Jackson and Senator Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts held a town hall for students on Monday night in Waterville, taking questions directly from the next generation of Mainers.
This event marked 13 town halls for Jackson since September 1st — 13 more town halls than Susan Collins has held during 30 years in public office.
The two Democrats spoke to a small, packed theater and overflow room at the Playhouse at Waterville Station, with dozens of students from nearby Colby College in attendance.
Never one to mince words, Warren called the Trump Administration “the most corrupt” in American history and Senate Republicans “spineless.” “We get the majority back, we’re at least back in the fight,” Warren told the crowd. “We have a Republican Senate that has not denied Donald Trump a single thing that he has wanted.”
Jackson said, “They're not doing anything to hold anybody accountable. They're not even doing their job as a Congress to actually, you know, do oversight.”

Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren held another town hall with candidate for U.S. senator Troy Jackson in Waterville, taking questions mainly from college students. The two talked about issues ranging from the cost of living to student debt.
"We bring down the cost of gasoline and home heating oil by stopping bombing halfway across the world. Stop spending billions of dollars over there and spend it here at home," Warren said.
Jackson also said artificial intelligence needs more guardrails and worries it will impact the workforce and recent graduates looking to find work. "We are not that far from 'Terminator,' and I don't want to be 'hasta la vista, baby," Jackson said.

Tonight's town hall here in Waterville focused on speaking with students and voters. The two spoke to dozens of people, including Colby College students, focusing on AI, health care, education and driving voter turnout ahead of next week's election.
“They don't want us coming together. That is the one thing that I've always understood. If we can get people to stand up, there's more of us than there are of them, and we can take control.”
For some Waterville students, Jackson represents the change they want to see in Washington.

They told the audience the country is at a crossroads and that President Trump has not fulfilled his promises, including the one to lower costs.
[Jackson said,] “If we quit giving tax cuts to billionaires, quit going to foreign wars, quit putting money like we are into rogue agencies like ICE, all these things I think we are just wasting money while the people in the United States are suffering. And that is what this election is really about."
WABI: Jackson, Warren Hold Town Hall in Waterville
Warren and Jackson repeatedly argued that Republicans must lose control of the Senate for Democrats to challenge President Trump's agenda.
[Warren said,] “We are here to deliver on our constitutional responsibilities. That is the difference between the path America takes that just says handed over to a handful of rich insiders, or pull this government back and make it work for the rest of us who are trying to make it work for ourselves, our families and our neighbors.”
