PORTLAND, ME — Fifth-generation logger, former Maine Senate President, and Democratic Nominee for U.S. Senate Troy Jackson joined MS NOW’s “The Weekend” to call out Susan Collins for siding with Trump over Mainers and vow to fight for the working class people of Maine when he gets to Washington.

On Susan Collins choosing Trump over Mainers:
“I think what's different about this time, is Susan Collins put Brett Kavanaugh on the Supreme Court, knowing damn well that they were going to overturn Roe v. Wade. Now six years later, people in Maine know that, they know that she lied about that. She plays this weird game of counting votes and throwing a bone every once in a while, but 96% of the time, she's voting with Trump. And people are upset in Maine.”
“She told us then that she used her power as appropriations chair to get ICE out of Maine. Well, clearly that was a lie. That wasn't true, because a young man just going to work Monday morning, like all of us as a working class have to do, was murdered in the streets of Biddeford. And that's all you can call that. It was a murder, and that's on Senator Collins. She had the ability to stop that 70 billion. She had the ability to stop ICE, and she didn't because she scared Donald Trump, and she wasn't going to push back him.”
On the momentum in Maine:
“I've never seen this type of momentum in the state of Maine. I've been paying attention for a long time, waiting for everyday working class people to step up and get out of line because I know how hard that is. But they are now because they're sick and tired of the government that we have, and they want to change. And it's not about Troy Jackson, I know that […] It’s about these issues that are so important to Mainers that need to change, that have to change.”
