Troy Jackson And Sen. Warren Rally Support For A Government That Works For Working People
PORTLAND, ME — Fifth generation logger and Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate Troy Jackson and Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren met with Mainers at Becky’s diner in Portland, a canvass launch, town hall, and Defeat Collins rally as Jackson campaigns for a government that works for working people, not one that fights for billionaire donors and corporations.

Portland Press Herald: Crowd in Portland rallies around electing Maine Democrats on ‘No Kings Day’
400 people gathered in Deering Oaks on Saturday to rally around voting Democrats into office in Maine and ousting five-term Republican incumbent Susan Collins from the U.S. Senate.
Democratic gubernatorial candidate Hannah Pingree, U.S. Senate candidate Troy Jackson and U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., were three of several speakers at the event. The trio criticized President Donald Trump and discussed issues such as healthcare, the war in Iran, rising heating oil costs, immigration and abortion. They blamed Collins for affordability challenges in Maine and emphasized the importance of voting.
Ben Bernard, 55, of Cliff Island, compared Collins to a teacher who helps a bullied child get some of their lunch money back, but won’t stand up to the bully. He was referring to Collins’ negotiations to remove some Maine items from Canada’s tariff list, a result of the trade war started by Trump. “Collins is enabling Trump every day,” Bernard said.
“A Senate seat does not belong to a person who’s held it for 30 years,” Jackson said. “It belongs to the people of Maine … I owe the people of Maine everything.”

Underscoring what she sees as the stakes of the midterms, particularly Maine’s Senate race, Democratic U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts told the more than 1000 people who rallied in Portland’s Deering Oaks Park that a vote for a Republican is essentially a vote for President Donald Trump’s agenda.
“Two years of Donald Trump and the Republican majority in the House and the Senate have never had the backbone to say no to anything,” she said. “Not an illegal war, not illegal tariffs, not tax cuts for billionaires, not taking away healthcare for millions of people, not to the biggest grifter in the history of the United States.”
Warren continued, “So here’s the deal, the time for polite requests for Donald Trump is over. No Kings means that we stand up, we show pride, we show backbone, we go to the polls, we go for a fighter, we vote for Troy Jackson.”

"We need to knock on doors, we need to text your cousin, your old roommate, your neighbor that never votes, your kids, your nephew, your niece, you need everyone of them to get out and vote," Pingree said.
"I owe Donald Trump nothing, I owe the billionaires nothing, I owe the people of Maine everything," Jackson said.
"This election is a choice, you can either have a rubber stamp for a want to be king or you can have a fighter for the people. My money is on Troy Jackson," Senator Warren said.

"No kings means that we stand up," said Warren. "We show pride. We show backbone. We go to the polls. We vote for a fighter. We vote for Troy Jackson."
"You don't get to vote to fund Donald Trump's agenda and then come home and tell us how concerned you are about it," commented Jackson. "Billionaires do not own this country. And this is something across the state that I think people have to understand better than ever. A Senate seat doesn't belong to a person who has held it for 30 years. It still belongs to the people of Maine."
Jackson and Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren greeted the breakfast crowd together at the landmark Becky’s Diner and later addressed a crowd on a crisp fall afternoon in Deering Oaks, Portland’s largest park.
“A Senate seat doesn’t belong to someone who’s held it for 30 years. It still belongs to the people of Maine,” Jackson told the crowd, referring to his Republican opponent, five-term incumbent Sen. Susan Collins.
"Today, people are working harder than ever and still falling behind. I mean, this country is more of a mess than I've ever seen, and that isn't because working people has [sic] failed America. It's because our government has failed working people," Jackson said.
"We have had nothing short of a medical miracle in Washington, D.C.," Warren said. "Every single Republican in the United States Senate has had their backbone removed. They’ve got just one move left, and that’s bow down to Donald Trump.” Warren criticized Republicans for backing Trump's war in Iran, tariffs, tax cuts for billionaires and health care cuts. She also blamed the president for failing to lower costs.
"Troy and I have talked about this one a lot. We start by raising wages for Americans, and that means make it easier to join a union and give unions more power when they negotiate," Warren said.
