Jackson Stands With Residents Protesting Out-Of-State Private Equity Firms Increasing Costs

Troy Jackson: “Private equity has been buying up our lives, making it harder for people in this country under Susan Collins' watch.”

PORTLAND, ME — Fifth-generation logger, former Maine Senate President, and Democratic Nominee for U.S. Senate Troy Jackson joined Blueberry Ridge Mobile Home Park residents in Wells for their Fight for Our Homes conversation. Jackson called attention to the unlivable conditions residents told him they are facing after out-of-state private equity firms bought out the park, raising rents and neglecting essential services to residents. 

“They shouldn't be able to buy or sell anything until they fix the damn water,” said one resident, pointing to the greedy firms that have been allowed to swoop in and take advantage of Mainers under Susan Collins’ watch. 

Jackson told residents that he would take on corporations that put profits ahead of the people who live in their communities.

Troy Jackson: Private equity that doesn't give a shit about us, wants to make as much money as they can, and they are right now. I mean, no one would drink that. 

Troy Jackson: I'm here in Blueberry Ridge Mobile Home Park. It's in Wells, Maine. This is what they showed me was their water that they're getting. 

Blueberry Ridge Resident: They shouldn't be able to buy or sell anything until they fix the damn water.

Troy Jackson: Two thirds of our largest mobile home parks have been bought up by private equity. Private equity has been buying up our lives, making it harder for people in this country under Susan Collins' watch. That is something that when I'm in the U.S. Senate, I'm going to take on because that's what I do, and I can't stand this bullshit anymore.
