FREEPORT, ME — Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate Troy Jackson, Senator Mark Kelly of Arizona, Democratic nominee for governor Hannah Pingree, and Congresswoman Chellie Pingree joined Mainers in Freeport yesterday, encouraging folks to head to the polls with one week until election day. The group of lawmakers and nominees emphasized what’s at stake in this race — a senator that hides from her record and answers to billionaires, or one that works to make life more affordable for working people.
“I'm just so proud. I'm so inspired. I'm a whole bunch of things that I never probably can get out of my heart. But thank you for what all of you are doing, because we have a shot. It's our time right now,” said Jackson. “Honestly, let's make sure in these next seven days we get people to go and vote. We talk to people. Do whatever you can because that's how we're going to win this race.”
“You guys have an opportunity to elect real leaders that will be working for most of Americans, not the one percent. You have the opportunity to elect Troy Jackson. He has already delivered for Maine. He's gonna fight for working families. He's gonna fight to get your health care back if you lost it, and he's gonna fight to make sure that kids get to eat,” said Senator Mark Kelly. “We need leaders in the United States Congress that are going to fight for those families, and Troy Jackson is that leader.”

“Troy Jackson is going to do an amazing job as a United States Senator,” said Congresswoman Chellie Pingree. “He did great work as a Senate President: fought for universal school lunch; fought for family and paid medical leave; fought against the prescription drug companies. We know he's going to do all the same, and he is going to help Mark to be in the majority in the United States Senate.”
“And Troy, I think, has worked harder than anybody I've ever seen run for office,” said Democratic nominee for governor Hannah Pingree. “I've known Troy since 2002. He is a very good man. He has worked hard for the state for 25 years, he is one of the first people in the legislature to encourage me to run for leadership. He supports women taking it to the next level, and so I will say I was very proud to vote for Troy today.”
