BRUNSWICK, ME — Today, Reproductive Freedom for All announced their endorsement of fifth-generation logger, former Maine Senate President, and Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate Troy Jackson at the launch of the Women for Troy Coalition. Women for Troy is aimed at uplifting and uniting the voices of Maine women.
“When Roe was overturned, I didn’t wring my hands or make excuses — I got to work,” said Jackson. “I helped pass some of the strongest protections for abortion access in the country because I believe these decisions belong to women, their families, and their doctors — not politicians. Susan Collins voted to put Brett Kavanaugh on the Supreme Court, and he helped overturn Roe. She can defend that vote all she wants. I’m running for Senate to restore and expand the federal right to abortion and make damn sure politicians never again get to take this freedom away from Mainers.”
“There is no better state to watch for how reproductive freedom will define the midterms than Maine. Susan Collins’ vote to confirm Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court spelled the end of Roe v. Wade, and voters haven’t forgotten that betrayal,” said Reproductive Freedom for All President and CEO Mini Timmaraju. “Troy Jackson has become an unrelenting champion for reproductive freedom and spent the last decade expanding abortion access in Maine. He’s the fighter Mainers deserve, and I’m proud to join today’s launch in a race that could decide the Senate majority.”
“Troy has a strong record of lowering costs, protecting health care, defending reproductive freedom, and standing up for workers – all things that help everyday people get ahead in life. The choice in this election couldn’t be more clear – Troy takes action. Susan Collins says she’s concerned but stays on the sidelines when it matters,” said Cynthia Phinney, president of the Maine AFL-CIO. “That’s what tonight is all about – Troy has shown up for us again and again, and we are showing up for him.”

Jackson introduced landmark legislation in 2023 expanding abortion protections in Maine and has earned a 100% rating from Planned Parenthood’s Maine chapter. His record stands in sharp contrast to Collins, who voted to confirm Kavanaugh and has said she does not regret that vote even after he joined the Supreme Court majority that overturned Roe v. Wade.
Reproductive Freedom for All’s endorsement comes as Jackson launches Women for Troy, a coalition of Mainers organizing to elect a senator who will protect abortion rights, defend access to reproductive health care, and stand up to politicians trying to take those freedoms away.
With control of the U.S. Senate — and the future of reproductive freedom — on the line, Maine voters will have a clear choice this November: Susan Collins helped put the votes on the Supreme Court that overturned Roe. Troy Jackson will fight to restore the rights they took away.
