Troy Jackson for U.S. Senate in Maine

PRESS RELEASE

Troy Jackson Wins Maine Senate Race, Defeating 30-Year Incumbent Susan Collins

PORTLAND, ME — Fifth generation logger, former Maine Senate President, and Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate Troy Jackson won the Maine Senate race and defeated 30 year incumbent Susan Collins. Jackson mounted a historic 101 day campaign that rallied Mainers behind the vision of a government that works for working people.

In remarks to supporters in Portland, Jackson thanked his family, campaign staff, volunteers, and the labor movement, and pledged to represent every Mainer, regardless of how they voted.

“Working people did this,” said Jackson. “You knocked the doors. You made the calls. You put your faith in a logger from Allagash because you believed Maine deserved a senator who knows what it’s like to work hard and still worry about the next bill. I’m going to remember who sent me to Washington.”

Jackson’s campaign brought Mainers together through more than 100 public events and more than 15 town halls during the roughly 100 days between his nomination and Election Day. He campaigned on lowering costs, expanding access to health care, protecting reproductive freedom, strengthening workers’ rights, and holding the Trump administration accountable.

“To every Mainer who voted for Senator Collins: I’m going to be your senator, too. You don’t have to vote for me to have me fight for you,” Jackson said. “This power was never mine. You gave it to me. My job is to use it for you—and I’m going to spend every day working to give you a government worthy of that trust.”
