At First Town Hall, Troy Jackson Connects With Voters While The No Show Senator Again Fails To Show

LEWISTON, ME —  Last night, fifth-generation logger, former Maine Senate President, and Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate, Troy Jackson hosted his first town hall in Lewiston, Maine. In front of the crowd of over 300, Jackson directly answered questions from Mainers about the issues most important to them. 

Jackson invited Senator Susan Collins to join him in Lewiston and saved a seat for her onstage, although she did not show up – continuing her 25-year streak of avoiding public town halls. 

“Events like these are exactly what this campaign is about – hearing from everyday Mainers, sharing my record, and promising to bring their voices and concerns to Washington where I’ll fight for them every single day,” said Jackson. “I’ll keep showing up and answering the tough questions, and I hope after 25 years of hiding, Susan Collins can find it in herself to do the same thing.” 

The event in Lewiston was the first in a series of town halls and community conversations Jackson will hold with Mainers across the state in the coming weeks. Jackson will hold his next town halls Thursday in Gorham and Saturday in Jay, with additional events to be announced. Senator Collins is welcome at those, too.
