Is Troy Jackson corrupt?
What a former colleague says, what he passed, and the rules he wants for Congress.
No, and he's running for U.S. Senate to end the corruption in Washington. Unlike his opponent, Jackson takes no corporate PAC money and wants to ban members of Congress from trading stocks. On September 2, 2026, the president of End Citizens United, Tiffany Muller, called him "a proven leader who will root out corruption and put working families at the center of every decision he makes."
What he passed in the Maine Legislature
In the Maine Legislature, he delivered lower prescription drug costs, universal school meals, paid family and medical leave, and collective bargaining rights for loggers.
On October 8, 2026, he tied that work to this race: "I've fought to lower prescription drug costs and feed kids at school. I'll bring that same fight to Washington, lower people's bills, and take on the corruption that shuts working people out."
The rules he wants for Congress
His plan to clean up Washington calls for banning congressional stock trading, overturning Citizens United and getting big money out of politics.
In the Senate, he would fight for a constitutional amendment to overturn Citizens United and for publicly financed federal campaigns modeled on Maine's Clean Election system.
On stock trading he has made a promise. "When I make it to Washington, I'll push to ban Congressional stock trading," he wrote on October 10, 2026.
Two days earlier, before the second debate, he said: "Families shouldn't have to write a campaign check to get their senator's attention."
